Devil's Punchbowl: 13th October

2 Merlin 1m 1f. Raptor heaven at the punchbowl today. Merlin(s) seen on and off - always low and often scattering (previously unseen) passerines from scrub. Views always distant but clear. Always fascinating to watch birds of prey interact but special attention was given to the merlins - corvids, kites and buzzards all having a go as they went about their business. Male and female seen in flight together - size difference very apparent. Well worth two and a half hours spent freezing on a wet, windy and very exposed hillside!. About here
