Massive fly hatch in hot calm weather
Common Tern - 2 appeared at 19.15 on F1, then 4, then back to 2 as 2 left SW
B H Gull - Building up to c 16 at sundown
Yellow-legged Gull - 2 immatures but possibly more (Heat shimmer across F2)
Great Black-backed Gull - Immatures including 1st and 2nd Summer
Lesser B-b Gull - Birds passing west and SW; totaling at least 20
Common Sand - 1 north side of F1 and later 1 on east of F2
Dunlin - 1 adult on Causeway
Little Egret - 3 south over Pinkhill at 19.25
Yellow Wagtail - at least 16 in three groups around east of F1 and causeway. Flying off east along Causeway towards sundown.
Raptors totaled 1 Buzzard
GC Grebes. Lots of pairs flying around, between basins and some aggression. 16 on F1 plus F2 birds... total of 30?
Tufted Duck 2 pairs flew in late from North.
Microlight, Paraglider and 5 Hot air balloons all unexpected.

4.50-6.30pm. Light not good for distinguishing gulls (sharp light plus some initial air shimmer over water). Very noticeable increase in large gull numbers, since last few visits and large gulls still arriving at 6.25. Med Gull 1 adult seen when it flew...
