Friday 31st DecAbingdon Sewage Works
12.30: c140 Pied wags lifted off filter beds; 12.45: c60 Siskin feeding on Alders by barrier gate as Ewan and Tom went-a-counting 6 Chiffs. I heard just one "hweet"! 1adult and a 1stW Common Gull on the one partly unfrozen and 'Smew-less' pit still holding good selection of waterfowl.
2.30-3.20pm: Windrush Valley Pit 60: Ice mist making accurate counts near impossible, but 29 Mute Swan, c200Wigeon, c10Pochard, c50 Tufted, c100Mallard, c3-400 Teal, Goldeneye 1f, 150-200 Coot, 13f & 2m Goosander, 5 Cormorant, 3 GC Grebe and with Great, Blue Tits and Reed Buntings on the seed feeder by the north (west) hide.
Dix Pit: Ice mist with shadowy walking Coots and LB-b's lifting off and heading eastward.
